Freak Achievements 2004

The Sideshow, Menswear X-hibit

A Press Release on our 2004 Events

A celebration of the muscular gorgeousness of the male silhouette.

The management dress code is de-constructed and then re-constructed in these colourful and challenging garments by David Roil. Grasp this opportunity to release your inner freak by donning the urban armour that is clothing by FREAK!

FREAK! collaborates with the "X-factor" male dance troupe that includes a fire and angle grinding segment. It has all the excitement of a sideshow along with pyro-glyphics, fire dancing, glo-stix (all with professional safety) and along with the stunning Leilah ethnic Middle-Eastern dancer extraordinaire. FREAK! both scares and thrills and features Erica Hackell design and at the same time highlights what the New Zealand male has been missing out on. FREAK! hangs, draws and quarters suit wear literally! Cut in half suits become layered, wrap around kilts, three-piece suits are all combined inside of each other and pulled thru the other way. Aotearoa has now no excuses for hoodies and jeans as we all know we have the Celt kilt, lava-lava, sarong, etc and men have no excuse with FREAK!

FREAK! had a personal invitation from the Long Cloak Productions' team to show at their inaugural glam fashion show event "Selection" on September 25 fronted by Charlotte Dawson. FREAK! took the catwalk by storm, and along with Freak's own inaugural launch on September 2 at "Sandwiches Bar & Restaurant" in Wellington showed what a class act FREAK! is.

On October 1 at the opening night of the brand new variety show "The Midnight Burlesque" it featured a full set by FREAK! The Midnight Burlesque is a wild and surreal cabaret featuring the Chandeliers and the bearded lady, the sleazy drag kings, stand up comedy, circus acts, multimedia performance art and much, much more.

The Freaks! had accessories created by "Costume Rocs" and "JoMarin Jewellery".  Additional garments contributed by Misdemeanor, Hunters and Collectors and ReCreation.

The Bodega Bar was the last setting for our 2004 events with a fast paced 15 minute show that hinted at what was to come for 2005.

Spot the real Freaks! in the crowd as the first 2005 Sideshow takes place at the Cuba Street Festival.
